Wei Cao is a Ph.D. student at the Computer Vision and Machine Learning Group at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, supervised by Prof. Yaoyao Liu.

Wei attended the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University, and then spent five and a half years at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree. Wei's master's thesis was mentored by Jiapeng Tang and supervised by Prof. Matthias Nießner in the Visual Computing & Artificial Intelligence Group. Wei has also spent time at Bosch Research (BCAI), Huawei 2012 Lab, FBK, and BMW.
